Now I'm not only a passenger, I'm in the cockpit

What's up world, welcome to the Northern Lights music blog. I plan to post news and such about The Dave Matthews Band, Weezer, State Radio, The Roots, and 311 on this blog. In addition to these feature artists, I'll put up a band of the week every week. Check back for pictures, news, downloads, and more.


So might as well start out with a few downloads. The Northern Lights artist download for the week is "Arsenic and Clover" by State Radio. It's a live recording from their 11/17/07 show. If you havn't heard of State Radio, fear not, check out this song and this blog (and maybe their site) for more info.

The artist of the week is Margot and the Nuclear so and so's. "Quiet as a Mouse" is from their 2006 debut "The Dust of Retreat." It's a real cool sound, they have eight or nine members which allows them to use instruments like the cello, real cool. "Quiet as a Mouse" is a powerful song with an unforgettable pre-chorus; the lone guitar and vocals give me chills every time. Other highlights from the CD are "Skeleton Key" and "Vampires in Blue Dresses."
